Free safety & crossover guide

When an ordinary divorce roadmap is not enough.

This page helps you recognize when domestic-violence or juvenile-dependency procedures may affect the family-law case. It does not ask you to describe abuse, evaluate allegations, or tell you what legal position to take.

Domestic violence & restraining orders

Safety procedures can overlap with divorce, custody, support, and mediation.

Immediate danger

If there is immediate danger, use emergency services rather than waiting on a routine family-law filing process.

Existing restraining order

Read and follow the signed order itself. Do not use a generic app instruction to override contact, stay-away, custody, firearm, or other terms in an existing order.

Custody mediation

Domestic-violence cases can have special mediation protections. California Courts says a person with safety concerns can ask to meet separately with the mediator, and a support person may be allowed at mediation or orientation.

No saved abuse narrative

The app does not need a description of what happened. Use official forms, the court, an advocate, or a qualified attorney for fact-specific help.

Open DV forms in Forms Assistant
The app can explain the process and forms, but it will not decide whether someone qualifies for a restraining order, draft an abuse narrative, recommend requested orders, or evaluate the strength of allegations.
CPS / Child Welfare / Juvenile Dependency

Check for a court crossover before relying on ordinary custody guidance.

If you have papers labeled JV-, a social worker is involved, or you are unsure whether a dependency petition is active, verify the court case status before relying on the ordinary custody workflow.
California Divorce Resources does not provide advice about fighting CPS allegations, dependency petitions, reunification plans, placement, removal, or what to say to a social worker. Those are outside this product's divorce self-help scope.
